Shedload privacy policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026. Shedload is operated by Andre Emiliano ("we"). Contact: emilianoappdev@gmail.com.
Shedload values the things in your photos so you can sell them. We collect as little as we can to do that, we don't show ads, and we never sell your data.
Photos you scan
- When you scan, the photo (or up to 3 photos of the same things) is resized on your phone and sent to our server, which passes it to our AI provider, Anthropic, to identify the items and estimate prices.
- To check prices, our server may also ask Anthropic to search the web for an item's name and condition (for example "Peloton Bike, good condition"), plus any notes you typed about it. Only that is searched, never your photo or anything about you. Anthropic's web search uses a third-party search provider.
- We don't store your photos on our servers. Once the result is sent back to your phone, the photo is gone from our side.
- Anthropic processes the photo under its commercial terms. It doesn't use it to train AI models, and it deletes it within 30 days, unless it's flagged for breaking Anthropic's usage policy or the law requires Anthropic to keep it.
- Try not to photograph people, documents or anything private. If you do, it's processed the same way.
What stays on your phone
Your scanned items, photos, price ranges, listings, rooms, bundles, notes and sale records are stored only on your device. They're included in your phone's backups (iCloud or Google) like other app data. Deleting the app, or tapping "Delete all items on this phone" in Settings, deletes them.
If you allow notifications, the "not sold yet" reminders are scheduled on your phone. Nothing about them is sent to us.
What we keep on our server
- A random install ID created by the app. We don't know your name or email, but the ID is still personal data: it identifies your copy of the app, and if you buy a pass or subscription, RevenueCat links it to that purchase. We use it to count your free scans and check whether you've paid. We keep that count for up to 13 months. If you enter a review or tester code, we note that against the ID for 90 days.
- The result of each scan (the list of items and prices, not the photo), for 24 hours, stored under a fingerprint of the photo rather than the photo itself. Scanning the same photo again, or retrying after your connection drops, gives you the same result without using up another scan.
- Sale prices you report. When you mark an item as sold, the app sends the item's name, brand, category, condition, our estimate and what it sold for, along with your install ID. We use these to check and improve our price estimates. We keep them for up to 13 months.
- Things you type. If you fix what an item is, or add something by name, the name, condition and notes you type are sent to our AI provider to price it, the same way photos are. We don't store them.
- Your IP address, only as counters that stop abuse (too many scans from one network). For IPv6 we use only the network part of the address. The hourly counter is deleted after 2 hours and the daily one after 2 days.
Payments
Purchases are made through Apple on iPhone and Google Play on Android. We never see your card details. We use RevenueCat to handle purchases and to check whether your install ID has an active pass or subscription. The app connects to RevenueCat for every user, not only buyers, so RevenueCat receives your install ID, basic device information and your IP address, plus purchase details from Apple or Google if you buy. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Who processes data for us
- Anthropic identifies and prices the items in your photos and corrections.
- RevenueCat handles purchases, as above.
- Cloudflare hosts our server, so it handles every request the app makes to us.
- TelemetryDeck counts how the app is used, as below.
- Sentry receives crash reports, as below.
Usage counts and crash reports
- To see where people get stuck, the app sends simple events to TelemetryDeck, such as "scan finished", "paywall shown" or "item marked sold", with counts like how many items a scan found. Your install ID is scrambled on your phone (hashed) before it's sent, so TelemetryDeck can't see it. No photos, item names or prices are sent, and TelemetryDeck doesn't track you across other apps.
- If the app crashes, Sentry receives a technical report of what went wrong and your device model and system version, so we can fix it. It doesn't include your photos or items.
What we don't do
- No advertising SDKs, and no tracking across other apps or websites.
- No selling or sharing of your data for marketing.
- No accounts: we don't ask for your name or email.
Price estimates
Prices are estimates based on AI, recent UK prices found online and real UK sold prices. They aren't offers or professional valuations.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask what we hold about you, and ask us to delete it. Your items live only on your phone, so deleting the app deletes them. What's left on our side is your scan count and any sale prices you reported, both stored against your install ID, and they expire within 13 months. To have them deleted sooner, copy your install ID from the Settings tab and email it to us. For any question, email emilianoappdev@gmail.com. You can also complain to the ICO.
Children
Shedload isn't directed at children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
